I have been studying raptors since 1984 and had the privilege and honor to work with Birds of Prey under the guidance of Drs. Frederick and Francis Hamerstrom. I am also a public school educator since 1987, a falconer since 2004, a New York State licensed nuisance wildlife control officer since 2008, an adjunct college professor at Paul Smiths College since 2008 and a retired wildlife rehabilitator.
I also write a wildlife column for the EMBARK, published every 2 months through the Adirondack Daily Enterprise. My stories can be seen via the web through the following web page www.adirondackguide.com .
Publications that I have written are....
Flying Harrier Casts a Pellet. Fall 1990. Journal of Raptor Research. Vol. 24.
Successfully protecting a northern harrier nest on a mowed field. March 2004. Kingbird 54(1): 34.
American kestrel nest box management program of northern New York State. The kingbird 61:23-32.
A possible American Kestrel dump nest is at the Kingbird editor.
Also we produced a documentary on the American Kestrel Project that aired on WPBS TV on 2 January 2011 at 3:30.
The late great Francis Hamerstrom once remarked "Birds are not a streak to us, we know them as individuals." That is our philosophy at Adirondack raptors, we treat them with respect and reverance, but we know them as individuals.
